In Pixar’s Cars, the racing team transporter carrying Lightning McQueen is Mack.
Mack is a red semi-truck who transports Lightning and the team’s racing equipment between events. He is dependable but exhausted, especially during the overnight drive toward the final race of the Piston Cup season. After stopping at a truck stop, Mack loses track of Lightning, setting up the film’s central detour.
Mack is distinct from Mater, who is a local tow truck in Radiator Springs. He also differs from the racing haulers associated with other competitors. John Ratzenberger voices Mack, continuing the actor’s recurring Pixar role tradition; Ratzenberger appears in every Pixar feature released through that period in a voice role.
