Cars Land opened at Disney California Adventure in 2012.
The themed area officially opened on June 15, 2012, as part of a major expansion of the park. It recreates Radiator Springs with large-scale rockwork, neon signs, shops, restaurants, and characters from Pixar's Cars.
Cars Land includes three major attractions: Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters, and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Radiator Springs Racers combines a dark ride through the town with an outdoor racing section.
The land was created after Disney and Pixar's Cars franchise became a major part of the company's entertainment and merchandise strategy. Its setting is not a direct real-world town, although the films and the land draw heavily on Route 66 imagery and roadside architecture.
