In Pixar's Cars (2006), Larry the Cable Guy voices the character Mater.

Mater is a rusty tow truck from Radiator Springs who quickly becomes Lightning McQueen's closest friend. His relaxed humor, exaggerated Southern-style speech, and enthusiasm for tractor tipping make him one of the film's most recognizable characters. The voice was provided by comedian and actor Daniel Lawrence Whitney, whose stage name is Larry the Cable Guy.

Mater's name is a shortened form of “tomater,” matching the film's vehicle-based wordplay. The character returned in Cars 2 and Cars 3 and also appeared in the animated series Mater's Tall Tales. Viewers sometimes identify the voice with another Cars cast member, John Ratzenberger, but Ratzenberger voices Mack, Lightning's transport truck.
