Professor Zündapp is the eccentric German weapons designer pursuing the World Grand Prix racers in Pixar’s Cars 2.
Professor Zündapp, commonly called Professor Z, is one of the film’s principal villains. He works with the conspiracy surrounding the World Grand Prix and the dangerous Allinol fuel, which is used to manipulate the race and its publicity.
His name and design allude to Zündapp, a German motorcycle and vehicle manufacturer founded in 1917. The character’s appearance resembles a small German-engineered vehicle, reinforcing the film’s international automotive theme.
Cars 2 expands the series beyond Radiator Springs into a spy adventure. The story visits Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London, while Mater becomes involved in espionage after being mistaken for an undercover agent. Professor Zündapp’s plot connects the racing event to the film’s larger international conspiracy.
