Cars 3 features Cruz Ramirez winning the Florida 500.
The Florida 500 is the season-ending race in Cars 3. Lightning McQueen begins the event as the assigned racer for the Rust-eze team, but a late decision allows Cruz Ramirez to take his place after she proves she can compete at the highest level.
Cruz wins the race against Jackson Storm, while Lightning adopts a supporting role influenced by his former mentor Doc Hudson. The result allows Lightning to continue racing on his own terms and gives Cruz the professional opportunity she had previously been denied.
Cars 3 was released in 2017 and was directed by Brian Fee. Its story focuses on changing generations in racing, unlike Cars 2, which emphasizes international espionage and the World Grand Prix. The Florida 500 should also not be confused with the Piston Cup itself: the race is the championship-season finale within the Cars universe.
