In Mortal Kombat 3, the centaur-like sub-boss fought before Shao Kahn is Motaro.
Motaro is a powerful Shokan-hating centaur from Mortal Kombat 3. He serves as the game’s sub-boss, appearing immediately before the final battle against Shao Kahn. His four-legged design gives him a distinct silhouette compared with the humanoid fighters and the four-armed Shokan warriors.
Motaro’s moves include a projectile-reflecting ability, teleportation, a charge attack, and a tail-based strike. In the original Mortal Kombat 3 arcade game, players face him near the end of the single-player ladder. Shao Kahn remains the final boss, so Motaro is not the game’s ultimate opponent.
The character later appeared in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. A common mix-up is confusing Motaro with Goro or Kintaro: all three are major non-human opponents, but Goro and Kintaro are Shokan, while Motaro is a centaur-like member of a different race.
