In Midway’s 1982 arcade game Ms. Pac-Man, the protagonist’s first bonus fruit is a cherry.
Bonus fruits appear in the maze as Ms. Pac-Man clears dots and advances through the game. The cherry is the first fruit in the sequence and awards 100 points when collected. Later stages introduce other fruit, each with a different point value, creating an additional scoring target beyond ordinary dots and ghosts.
Ms. Pac-Man began as a modification of the original Pac-Man hardware and was developed by General Computer Corporation before Midway released it. Its changing maze layouts, moving fruit and altered ghost behavior distinguished it from Pac-Man. The cherry is shared with the original Pac-Man’s opening bonus item, but in Ms. Pac-Man it appears as part of the game’s broader rotating fruit system.
