In Mario Party 3, Duel maps have two players lowering each other’s stamina to zero.
These maps belong to Duel Mode, a one-on-one format in which each player uses up to two partners to attack the opponent. Partners also defend their owner, making positioning and partner choice central to the match.
Each partner has an individual health value. When that health reaches zero, the partner disappears. If an attack exceeds a partner’s remaining health, the extra damage reaches the player; attacks can also hit the player directly when no partner is blocking the route.
A common mix-up is calling these Battle maps or ordinary Party Mode boards. Mario Party 3’s Duel maps are a distinct mode, and the contest can last 20 turns or continue until one player’s stamina is depleted.
