In Mario Party 2, what item lets players use shortcuts on board maps?

The story behind the answer

In Mario Party 2, the Skeleton Key lets players use shortcuts on board maps.

Mario Party 2 expanded the original game's board-game formula with collectible items that could be bought in shops or won from special treasure-chest minigames. A player could carry one item and use it before rolling the Dice Block, making items an important part of route planning.

The Skeleton Key is specifically tied to locked passages and shortcuts built into the boards. Using one opens a nearby gate, allowing the player to take an alternate route instead of following the longer main path. This can improve a player's chances of reaching Toad, whose location determines where Stars are purchased.

The other listed choices have different roles. The Bowser Bomb transforms Baby Bowser into Bowser, while the Dueling Glove initiates a duel and the Warp Block changes a player's position randomly. None of those items is the dedicated shortcut-opening tool. Mario Party 2 was released for Nintendo 64 in 1999 in Japan and North America and in 2000 in Europe.
