In Mario Party 2, what is the name of the western-themed board?

The story behind the answer

In Mario Party 2, the western-themed board is called Western Land. The board presents the players as travellers in an old-west setting, complete with dusty paths, wooden buildings, train stations, and a locomotive called Steamer that can change how players move around the map.

Mario Party 2, released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, gives each board a distinct costume theme. On Western Land, the playable characters wear cowboy-style outfits, reinforcing the board’s frontier setting. Its central train mechanic is especially important: Steamer travels between stations and can carry players to another part of the board, making route planning and timing central to a successful game.

Western Land is sometimes confused with generic names such as “Wild West” or “Cowboy Land,” but those are descriptive phrases rather than the board’s official title. The same board later returned in Mario Party Superstars and was also included as a classic board in Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Mario Party 2 contains six themed boards in total, including Pirate Land, Western Land, Mystery Land, Horror Land, Space Land, and Bowser Land.
