In Mario Kart World, the Feather gives a driver a spinning jump.
The Feather is a movement-focused item rather than a conventional projectile or defensive shield. Activating it makes the kart leap into the air with a spinning motion, allowing the player to dodge certain dangers and reach routes that require a jump.
Players may confuse the Feather with a Mushroom because both can help a racer escape danger, but the Mushroom provides a burst of speed instead. The Star grants temporary invincibility, while the Mega Mushroom enlarges the driver and lets them flatten rivals. None of those items produces the Feather's characteristic jump.
The Feather fits Mario Kart World's emphasis on off-road movement and alternate paths. The game adds wall riding, rail grinding, boat racing and other ways to move through its connected world, so items can affect positioning as well as speed.
