Isla Nublar is the volcanic island threatened by eruption in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It is the same fictional island where Jurassic Park was built and where the Jurassic World theme park later operated.
The film begins after the destruction of Jurassic World and presents a debate over whether the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar should be rescued. A volcanic eruption makes the question urgent, while some characters argue that the animals should be left to die as a natural consequence of the island’s catastrophe.
Claire Dearing joins a mission backed by Benjamin Lockwood to evacuate selected dinosaurs. Owen Grady returns with her, and the rescue effort eventually becomes connected to a much larger plan involving the Lockwood estate and the sale of captured animals.
Isla Nublar should not be confused with Isla Sorna, the second major dinosaur island in the franchise. Isla Sorna is the setting of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, whereas Nublar is the setting of the first and fourth films.
