In J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, who is crowned King Elessar?

The story behind the answer

In J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Aragorn is crowned King Elessar.

Aragorn is the heir of Isildur and belongs to the royal line of Arnor and Gondor. For much of the story he travels under the name Strider, concealing his identity while helping protect the Shire and the wider free peoples of Middle-earth.

After Sauron’s defeat, Aragorn becomes King of the Reunited Kingdom, joining Arnor and Gondor. He marries Arwen, and the title Elessar means Elfstone. Aragorn’s coronation is sometimes confused with Éomer’s accession as king of Rohan, but Éomer rules a different kingdom and is not King Elessar.
