In J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, Aragorn’s reforged sword is called Andúril.
Andúril is created from the shards of Narsil, the sword wielded by Elendil during the War of the Last Alliance. Narsil breaks when Elendil falls in battle, but its broken blade is used by Isildur to cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand. The shards are preserved by Isildur’s heirs.
Before Aragorn becomes king, the sword is reforged in Rivendell. Aragorn carries it during the journey of the Fellowship of the Ring. The name Andúril is commonly translated as “Flame of the West,” and the sword serves as both a weapon and a visible sign of Aragorn’s royal heritage.
Glamdring is the sword of Gandalf, Orcrist is associated with Thorin Oakenshield, and Sting is Bilbo’s and later Frodo’s small blade. These names are therefore related to Tolkien’s swords but are not the reforged weapon carried by Aragorn.
