The sixth-generation Mustang was planned to be available in 120 countries.
Ford unveiled the sixth-generation Mustang, internally coded S550, in December 2013 and introduced it for the 2015 model year. Unlike earlier Mustangs, it was designed from the outset as a global model under Ford’s “One Ford” strategy.
The 120-country plan included 25 right-hand-drive markets, a major change for the Mustang. Ford developed factory-produced right-hand-drive cars rather than relying solely on conversions by local specialists. This helped expand the Mustang’s official presence in markets such as the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan.
The sixth generation ran from 2014 to 2023 and was built at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. It offered fastback coupe and convertible body styles, plus engines ranging from a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder to the 5.0-liter Coyote V8. The 120-country figure describes the intended global availability at launch, not the number of countries where every trim or engine was sold.
