In Hindu mythology, which Pandava was the eldest son of Kunti?
Answer
Yudhishthira
Answer
Yudhishthira
In Hindu mythology, Yudhishthira was the eldest son of Kunti among the five Pandava brothers.
The Mahabharata presents Yudhishthira as the son of Kunti and the deity Dharma, also called Yama in many versions. His birth makes him the oldest of the Pandavas, followed by Bhima and Arjuna, while Nakula and Sahadeva are the younger sons of Madri. The brothers are central protagonists in the epic’s conflict with the Kauravas.
Yudhishthira is especially associated with truthfulness, justice, duty, and moral judgment. He becomes king after the Kurukshetra War, although the victory brings profound grief because many relatives and teachers have died. His commitment to dharma is tested repeatedly, including during the dice game and the Pandavas’ exile.
The eldest Pandava is sometimes confused with Karna, who was also Kunti’s son. Karna was born to Kunti before her marriage and was raised by foster parents, so he is not counted among the five Pandavas in the usual narrative structure.
