In "Grease", who plays Sandy?

In "Grease," Olivia Newton-John plays Sandy Olsson. The 1978 film follows Sandy, an Australian transfer student, and Danny Zuko, played by John Travolta, as they reunite at Rydell High after a summer romance.

Newton-John was already a successful British-Australian singer when she accepted the role. She initially worried that she was too old to play a high-school senior, since she was 28 during filming, but a screen test with Travolta helped convince her. Their chemistry became central to the movie.

Sandy’s transformation from a shy newcomer to a leather-clad greaser is one of the film’s most recognizable story arcs.
