In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Las Venturas is the city based on Las Vegas.

Las Venturas is one of three major cities in the fictional state of San Andreas, alongside Los Santos and San Fierro. Rockstar modelled those cities on Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, respectively. The game is set in 1992, so Las Venturas mixes neon casinos, desert highways and early-1990s American city imagery.

The city is surrounded by Bone County, a desert region inspired by Nevada. Its casino skyline borrows visual ideas from famous Las Vegas resorts, while the city’s missions involve gambling, organised crime and elaborate casino robberies. The name itself is a playful variation on “Las Vegas.”

A common mix-up is confusing the three city inspirations: Los Santos is Los Angeles, San Fierro is San Francisco, and Las Venturas is Las Vegas. The modern Grand Theft Auto V version of San Andreas focuses on Los Santos and does not include Las Venturas as an explorable city.
