In "Goodfellas", who plays Stacks Edwards?

The story behind the answer

In Goodfellas, Samuel L. Jackson plays Stacks Edwards.

Stacks is a small but memorable member of the crew portrayed in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 crime film. He is involved in the aftermath of the Lufthansa heist and is ordered to dispose of the getaway van, but his delay creates a serious problem for the gang. Tommy DeVito later kills him for failing to carry out the task promptly.

Jackson’s appearance is easy to miss because Stacks has limited screen time and is not one of the film’s central characters. Goodfellas nevertheless came early in Jackson’s career, before he became widely known for major roles in films such as Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park, and the Marvel films.

Another common confusion is mixing Stacks Edwards up with a fictional gangster played by a different cast member. The role belongs to Jackson, who appears in the film years before his later action and franchise roles made him a global star.
