James Bond drives no BMW in the Saint Petersburg tank chase in GoldenEye.
The famous vehicle in that sequence is a stolen Russian T-55 tank, which Bond drives through Saint Petersburg while pursuing General Ourumov and the criminal organization Janus. The chase ends with the tank crashing through streets and into a train, making it one of the film’s most recognizable action scenes.
GoldenEye does feature a BMW Z3, but it is a separate Bond vehicle. Q presents the two-seat roadster to Bond in a briefing, where its hidden equipment includes parachutes and stinger missiles. The Z3 has only a short driving appearance, so viewers can easily associate the BMW with the film’s broader vehicle imagery.
The question distinguishes the car from the tank. The tank chase is not a BMW sequence, and answering Z3 confuses Bond’s gadget briefing car with the much larger armored vehicle used in the Saint Petersburg action set piece.
