In Ghostbusters, the Environmental Protection Agency inspector is named Walter Peck.
Peck arrives at the Ghostbusters’ headquarters to investigate the dangerous storage of captured spirits. He clashes with Peter Venkman, who dismisses the inspection and refuses to cooperate with Peck’s demand to shut down the containment system.
Peck’s decision ultimately leads to the containment grid being deactivated. The released entities cause widespread supernatural chaos in New York, helping drive the film toward its climax at the apartment building known as 55 Central Park West.
William Atherton plays Peck, while Bill Murray plays Peter Venkman. Another common mix-up is Louis Tully: Rick Moranis plays Louis, an accountant whose apartment becomes important to the supernatural plot, but he is not the EPA inspector.
