In Genesis, what was the reported length of Noah’s Ark?

The story behind the answer

In Genesis, the reported length of Noah’s Ark was 300 cubits.

Genesis 6:15 gives the Ark’s three principal dimensions as 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. The text uses the ancient cubit, a measurement based broadly on the length of a forearm, so its exact modern equivalent is uncertain.

Depending on the cubit assumed, 300 cubits is often estimated at roughly 135 to 157 metres, or about 450 to 515 feet. Those conversions are approximations rather than measurements stated by Genesis itself.

The dimensions have attracted modern engineering comparisons because they form a long, relatively narrow vessel. However, Genesis presents them as part of a religious narrative, and the text does not provide a modern construction plan or identify a surviving Ark.
