In Genesis, what was Noah told to bring into the Ark for food?

The story behind the answer

In Genesis, Noah was told to bring every kind of food into the Ark for himself, his family, and the animals.

Genesis 6:21 instructs Noah to take and store all kinds of food that can be eaten. The verse says the food would serve as provisions for Noah and those aboard the Ark, and Genesis 6:22 then states that Noah did everything God commanded him.

The passage does not list particular crops, quantities, storage containers, or a detailed ration plan. It also does not say that the Ark carried only grain, fruit, or one special food. Later retellings may invent menus or feeding systems, but the biblical wording remains general.

This instruction appears before the Flood and complements the command to bring living creatures into the Ark. It is separate from the later account of Noah planting a vineyard after leaving the vessel. The safest canonical answer is therefore the broad phrase used by Genesis: every kind of food.
