In Genesis, Noah’s Ark had three total floors.
Genesis 6:16 describes the Ark as having lower, second, and third decks. This gives the vessel three levels within the instructions attributed to God before the Flood. The verse also mentions a window or opening and a door in the side, although translations differ on some architectural details.
The three-floor description is separate from the Ark’s length, width, and height. Genesis 6:15 gives measurements of 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high, while the following verse describes the internal arrangement. Keeping these details separate avoids confusing the number of decks with the vessel’s dimensions.
Popular illustrations often show many animal stalls or elaborate rooms, but the biblical text gives only limited architectural information. It explicitly names three levels and compartments, without supplying a complete floor plan or modern construction specification.
