In Genesis, eight people were aboard Noah’s Ark when the Flood came.
Genesis names Noah, his wife, his three sons, and the wives of those three sons as the human occupants of the Ark. That produces a total of eight people. The account does not give the women’s names.
This number is sometimes confused with the number of people saved in later religious interpretations or with the number of animals taken aboard. In the New Testament, 1 Peter 3:20 also refers to “eight souls” being saved through water. The biblical narrative separates the human passengers from the animals, which entered in accordance with God’s instructions.
