In Finding Nemo, the clownfish father who searches for his son is named Marlin.
Marlin is an anxious clownfish whose son Nemo is captured and taken from the Great Barrier Reef. The film follows Marlin’s journey across the ocean as he searches for Nemo, meeting Dory and many other sea creatures along the way.
His character combines intense protectiveness with fear caused by an earlier family tragedy. The adventure gradually changes his relationship with Nemo: Marlin learns that keeping his son safe also means allowing him independence and trusting his abilities.
Finding Nemo was released by Pixar Animation Studios in 2003 and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Albert Brooks provided Marlin’s voice, while Alexander Gould voiced Nemo and Ellen DeGeneres voiced Dory.
