Peter Jones has served as the longest-standing original dragon on the UK series Dragons' Den.
Jones joined the programme at its launch in 2005 and became a permanent presence across successive panel changes. He is a British entrepreneur and businessman whose interests have included technology, mobile communications, media and leisure businesses.
Several other prominent investors appeared in the early series, including Duncan Bannatyne and Theo Paphitis. Their departures and later replacements mean viewers sometimes identify a different familiar face as the longest-serving dragon. Jones, however, remained connected with the programme from its beginning.
His television role is based on evaluating pitches, questioning founders about sales and margins, and deciding whether the proposed valuation justifies an investment. His continued presence has made him one of the clearest links between the programme’s first series and its later seasons.
