Rob Law pitched the ride-on children’s suitcase Trunki before the Dragons rejected it in 2006.
Trunki was designed as a child-sized, ride-on suitcase intended to make travel more engaging for young children. Law sought investment on Dragon’s Den, but the Dragons did not make an offer. The product was later launched commercially and became an internationally recognised British design success.
The pitch is often used to illustrate that rejection on the programme does not necessarily prevent a business from succeeding. It is also important not to confuse Trunki with a generic scooter or ride-on toy: its defining feature is that it combines children’s luggage with a ride-on design. The product’s later success made Law’s unsuccessful televised pitch one of the programme’s most frequently revisited moments.
