Evan Davis was the presenter of Dragon's Den from its first series in 2005.
Davis, a BBC journalist and broadcaster, introduced the entrepreneurs and explained the investment context while the Dragons questioned the business owners. His role gave viewers a consistent guide through the often fast-moving negotiations.
He remained associated with the programme for many series before leaving the presenting role in 2013. The investor panel changed more frequently, so the presenter is an especially useful way to identify the show's early era.
Davis is sometimes confused with the Dragons themselves because he appeared in the pitch room and interacted with the entrepreneurs. He was not an investor or panel member: his job was to host and narrate the programme. Later presenters included Adrian Chiles, Richard Osman and Victoria Coren Mitchell.
