In Dragons’ Den, which presenter has hosted the BBC programme since its launch?

The story behind the answer

Evan Davis has hosted the BBC’s Dragons’ Den since the programme launched in 2005.

Davis is a British journalist, broadcaster and economist. Before and alongside his work on the business programme, he presented BBC radio and television news, including work for BBC Radio 4 and Newsnight.

As host, Davis introduces the entrepreneurs, asks questions during or after the pitches and explains aspects of the negotiations for viewers. The Dragons themselves decide whether to invest, but the presenter provides the programme’s continuity and helps clarify financial claims.

Viewers sometimes confuse the presenter with the investors because he regularly challenges contestants and comments on offers. Davis is not a Dragon: he does not take equity stakes in the companies pitched on the show.
