In Dragon's Den, which original Dragon is known for founding Phones 4u?

John Caudwell, founder of Phones 4u, was an original Dragon on Dragon's Den.

Caudwell built his business career in mobile-phone retail and became associated with the Phones 4u chain. He joined the first investor panel of the British programme, appearing alongside other original Dragons including Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh and Simon Woodroffe.

Phones 4u was established in the 1990s and grew as mobile-phone ownership expanded in the United Kingdom. Caudwell later became known for philanthropy through the Caudwell Children charity, which supports disabled children and their families.

A frequent source of confusion is that later Dragons also had major telecommunications or retail interests. Peter Jones, for example, is strongly associated with technology and communications businesses, but the Phones 4u founder among the original panel was John Caudwell.
