Peter Jones is the only original Dragon still appearing in the British Dragons' Den series.
Jones joined the original investor panel when the programme launched in 2005. His business interests include technology, telecommunications, media and retail, and he has become one of the most recognisable faces associated with the format.
The original panel also included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard. Those investors later departed, while Jones continued through successive line-ups. Deborah Meaden joined in the third series, so although she is strongly identified with the programme, she was not an original Dragon.
The phrase “original Dragon” refers to the launch panel rather than every investor who appeared during the first few seasons. This distinction matters because the cast changed substantially over the programme's long run.
