Peter Jones was one of the original Dragon's Den investors when the programme launched in 2005.
Jones is a British entrepreneur and businessman whose interests have included telecommunications, media, retail, property and leisure. His tall stature and direct questioning became recognisable features of the programme, and he remained a Dragon across the show's early decades.
The original panel also included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Theo Paphitis. Not every original investor stayed permanently: the panel changed over time as Dragons left and new investors joined.
Jones is often associated with technology and consumer brands on the show, but his career began before Dragon's Den. He founded Phones International Group in 1998, building a business in mobile-phone distribution and related services. His role in the Den made him one of the programme's most recognisable investors.
