In Dragon's Den, which investor has served as a Dragon continuously since the UK series began?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones has served continuously as a Dragon since the UK version of Dragon's Den began.

Jones is a British entrepreneur and investor whose business interests have included mobile communications, technology and property. He was part of the original five-person panel when the BBC series launched in 2005, alongside Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Theo Paphitis and Doug Richard.

His continued presence makes him the programme's longest-serving Dragon. Over the years, the panel has changed substantially, with later investors including Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Steven Bartlett. Jones has therefore become one of the clearest links between the first series and later eras of the show.

Viewers sometimes describe a returning investor as an original Dragon, but those terms are not identical. Jones is both an original panel member and a continuous participant, whereas several other original Dragons left after the early series.
