Sara Davies founded Crafter's Companion before joining Dragon's Den as an investor.
Davies created the company in 2005 while she was a student at the University of York. Its first major product was the Enveloper, a tool designed to help crafters make envelopes for handmade cards. The business grew from a student idea into an international craft-products company.
Her own experience of developing, manufacturing and selling a product shaped her approach in the den. She has often emphasised practical matters such as product demonstrations, customer communities and routes to market.
Crafter's Companion should not be confused with a television production company or a general craft retailer. It is the company Davies founded and built around papercraft, card-making and related creative products. She became a Dragon in 2019.
