In Dragons' Den, which entrepreneur became the show's first female Dragon?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh became the first female Dragon on the British version of Dragons' Den.

Elnaugh was part of the original investor panel when the programme launched in 2005. She was known for building businesses in the gift and retail sector, particularly through Red Letter Days, a company selling experience gifts.

Her presence is sometimes overlooked because Deborah Meaden later became the programme's longest-serving female investor and one of its most recognisable Dragons. Meaden joined after the first two series, whereas Elnaugh was present from the beginning.

Elnaugh left the regular panel after the second series. The programme subsequently featured several other female investors, including Meaden, Kelly Hoppen, Hilary Devey and Sara Davies. Their different business backgrounds helped broaden the range of expertise represented in the den.
