In Dragons' Den, which Dragon founded the technology company Phones International Group?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones founded the technology company Phones International Group.

Phones International Group was founded by Jones in 1998 and operated in the mobile-communications sector. His wider business interests have included technology, telecommunications, media, retail, and consumer brands, making him one of the programme’s most recognisable investors.

Jones was an original Dragon when the British series launched in 2005. He has remained the longest-serving investor on the regular panel, appearing across the programme’s many series and becoming particularly associated with technology and scalable consumer businesses.

Phones International should not be confused with Phones 4u, the retailer founded by John Caudwell. Both names refer to businesses connected with mobile phones, but they were separate companies with different founders and activities. Jones has also invested in several businesses featured on the programme, including the later development of the Red Letter Days brand.
