In Dragon's Den, Hilary Devey founded Pall-Ex, a palletised freight distribution network.
Devey established Pall-Ex in 1996 after identifying a gap in the transport market. The company developed a network model in which freight companies could move single pallets efficiently through coordinated regional depots rather than relying only on full-load deliveries.
She joined the BBC programme as a Dragon in 2011, bringing a business background rooted in logistics and freight rather than consumer retail. Her time on the panel helped make her name familiar to a wider television audience.
Pall-Ex is sometimes confused with an ordinary parcel-delivery company. Its defining specialism was palletised freight: goods were consolidated and distributed through a network designed for business shipments. Devey left Dragon's Den after the 2012 series to pursue other television and business work.
