In Dragon's Den, BrewDog was founded by James Watt and Martin Dickie in 2007.
BrewDog began as a Scottish craft-brewing company created by Watt and Dickie. The founders sought to make bold, flavourful beers and to build a distinctive brand around the emerging craft-beer movement. The company later expanded into bars, brewing facilities and international sales.
BrewDog became especially memorable to Dragon's Den viewers because the founders pitched the business on the programme and did not accept the proposed deal. That appearance is often cited as an example of the difference between television exposure and a completed investment.
BrewDog should not be confused with Innocent Drinks, Gü or Hotel Chocolat, which are other British consumer brands associated with entrepreneurial television stories. The founding pair and the 2007 date identify the brewery precisely.
