In Dragons' Den, entrepreneurs present their businesses in the room called the Den.
The Den is the programme’s central setting. Contestants walk into it to make a prepared presentation to the Dragons, who then question them about sales, costs, ownership, valuation and plans for growth. The name gives the series its title and is part of the show’s distinctive vocabulary.
The setting is designed as a high-pressure negotiation space rather than a conventional television studio interview. Entrepreneurs normally stand before the investors while explaining their product or business, often using demonstrations, samples or visual displays.
The term can be confused with the “boardroom”, a common name in business television, but that is not the official setting name used by the British programme. The format’s international versions retain the idea of a den, although the exact studio design and investor panel vary from country to country.
