In Dragon's Den, what is the name of Deborah Meaden's family holiday-park business?

The story behind the answer

Weststar Holidays was the family holiday-park business associated with Dragon's Den investor Deborah Meaden.

Meaden joined the BBC programme as a Dragon in 2006, bringing experience from leisure, retail and tourism businesses. Before becoming a television investor, she was involved with her family's holiday-park operation in the West Country. Weststar Holidays operated holiday parks and was later sold to Alton Towers owner The Tussauds Group in 2005.

That sale helped establish Meaden's reputation as a successful leisure entrepreneur before her television career became widely known. Her background is particularly relevant to pitches involving hospitality, attractions, tourism and consumer services.

Weststar Holidays is often confused with much larger holiday brands such as Haven, Butlin's or Parkdean Resorts. Those are separate companies. The useful distinction is that Weststar was the Meaden family business, whereas the other names refer to different operators in the British holiday industry. Meaden has also invested in many smaller companies shown on Dragon's Den.
