Shaun Pulfrey pitched the hair-detangling product Tangle Teezer to the Dragons on Dragon's Den UK.
Pulfrey, a hairdresser and inventor, developed the Tangle Teezer after seeing how conventional brushes could pull and damage hair. He appeared on the programme in 2007 and demonstrated a distinctive plastic brush designed to remove tangles with less pulling than many standard brushes.
The pitch became a notable example of an entrepreneur whose product gained attention even though the televised deal did not proceed as viewers expected. Tangle Teezer later grew into an international brand sold in many countries and expanded its range beyond the original design.
People sometimes confuse the inventor with the investors who discussed the product in the Den. The Dragons evaluated the opportunity, but Shaun Pulfrey was the entrepreneur and creator presenting it. The brand name is written as two words: Tangle Teezer.
