In Disney’s 2020 live-action film Mulan, Jason Scott Lee plays the invading leader Bori Khan.
Bori Khan leads the Rouran forces against the Imperial Chinese government. He seeks revenge and political power, and he works with Xianniang, whose shapeshifting abilities help the invasion.
Bori Khan replaces Shan Yu as the principal human antagonist in the live-action adaptation. Shan Yu is the leader of the Hun army in the 1998 animated film, so the two characters are often confused when viewers compare the movies.
The 2020 film also changes several military characters. Donnie Yen plays Commander Tung, Mulan’s commanding officer, while Yoson An plays Chen Honghui, a fellow soldier. Neither character is the invading leader.
