In Die Another Day, which Aston Martin model uses adaptive camouflage to become nearly invisible?

The story behind the answer

The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish uses adaptive camouflage to become nearly invisible in Die Another Day.

In the 2002 film, Q gives Bond a silver Aston Martin V12 Vanquish called the “Vanish.” Its fictional adaptive-camouflage system uses cameras and display panels to reproduce the surroundings across the car’s body, creating the appearance of invisibility. Bond uses the vehicle during a confrontation at an ice palace.

The Vanquish was a real front-engined grand tourer introduced by Aston Martin in 2001. Its film equipment is not a normal production feature: the camouflage system belongs to the movie’s science-fiction spy technology. The car also carries conventional fictional weapons and defensive devices.

The vehicle is sometimes called simply the “Vanish,” but that is Bond’s nickname for the gadget-equipped V12 Vanquish. It should not be confused with the Aston Martin DBS used in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
