Chuck McGill dies in the Better Call Saul episode “Lantern.”
“Lantern” is the tenth and final episode of season three. After losing his law partnership and experiencing a severe personal crisis, Chuck destroys the interior of his house while trying to locate an electrical source he believes is affecting him. He later starts a fire that kills him.
The episode title refers to the lantern Chuck uses while searching through his home. Chuck’s death changes Jimmy’s life and becomes a major part of the series’ later emotional and legal conflicts. “Chicanery,” by contrast, is the earlier season-three episode centered on Chuck’s bar hearing and courtroom confrontation with Jimmy, so the two titles are often mixed up.
