In BBC's Dragon's Den, who was the show's first presenter?
Answer
Evan Davis
Answer
Evan Davis
Evan Davis was the first presenter of BBC's Dragon's Den.
Davis hosted the British version when it began in 2005. His role was to introduce entrepreneurs, explain the pitch format, and guide viewers through negotiations with the investors, who are called dragons.
He was already well known in British broadcasting as a BBC economics correspondent and presenter. His clear interviewing style suited a programme built around business plans, valuations, and fast-moving negotiations.
Davis later became the presenter of Newsnight and subsequently chaired other BBC programmes. The hosting role on Dragon's Den changed after his tenure, while the investor panel also evolved substantially. This can cause confusion because several presenters and many dragons have appeared across the show's long run.
