Alan Sugar was the Dragons' Den investor who owned Tottenham Hotspur from 1991 to 2001.
Sugar bought the London football club in 1991 through his company Amstrad. He served as chairman during the 1990s, a period that included Tottenham's 1991 FA Cup victory, secured before his ownership began. He sold his remaining stake in 2001.
Sugar is better known internationally for founding Amstrad, the consumer-electronics company he established in 1968. He later became a television personality and joined the British version of Dragons' Den as one of its investors.
A common mix-up is confusing Sugar's Tottenham ownership with his role at the club after the sale. He was no longer the owner after 2001, although his tenure remains one of the best-known parts of his business biography.
