Steven Bartlett became the youngest-ever Dragon when he joined the main Dragon's Den panel in 2022.
Bartlett is a British entrepreneur, investor and podcaster who co-founded the social-media marketing company Social Chain. He joined the BBC programme for its twentieth series, bringing a technology and digital-business background to a panel historically associated with retail, manufacturing, property and finance.
His appointment marked a generational change in the television lineup. Bartlett was born in 1992, so he was substantially younger than most previous regular Dragons when he took his seat. His experience building a digital agency also gave the panel a profile more closely connected with online brands and social-media businesses.
The phrase “youngest-ever Dragon” refers to the regular investor role on the BBC series, not to the youngest entrepreneur to pitch. Those are different records: contestants may be teenagers or young adults, while the Dragon is a member of the investor panel.
