In BBC Dragons' Den, which investor joined the panel in 2006, replacing Rachel Elnaugh?
Answer
Deborah Meaden
Answer
Deborah Meaden
Deborah Meaden joined the BBC's Dragons' Den panel in 2006, replacing Rachel Elnaugh.
Meaden became one of the programme's most recognisable investors, known for her direct questioning and focus on business fundamentals such as margins, ownership and sales. Her arrival followed Elnaugh's departure after the early series of the British version.
The British programme began in 2005 and initially featured Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe. Meaden therefore belongs to the show's second generation of regular Dragons rather than its original launch panel.
This fact is sometimes confused with the identity of the first woman on the panel: that was Rachel Elnaugh, who appeared from the programme's beginning. Meaden later became the longest-serving female Dragon in the show's regular modern-era lineup.
