Rob Law presented the children's ride-on suitcase Trunki on BBC Dragons' Den.
Law designed Trunki as a colourful, lightweight case that children could sit on and pull through airports. He pitched the idea during the programme's early years, but the Dragons did not invest. Despite that rejection, the product went on to become a successful travel accessory sold internationally.
The story is frequently cited as an example of a business succeeding after an unsuccessful television pitch. It also illustrates an important distinction in the format: appearing on Dragons' Den does not mean that a contestant secured a deal. A televised offer can also be subject to later checks, negotiation and paperwork.
Trunki was developed by Law's company, Magmatic, which was based in the United Kingdom. The brand is often confused with ordinary children's luggage, but its defining feature is that the case is designed to be ridden by a child.
